She is described by the town folk as kind, sweet, a sweet but stern smile. Most individuals find that she has a natural charm about her – something that seems to draw them in.

On that same note, Gwendolyn has a fierce temper when truly angered and the tongue to match. She can curse up a storm, nearly shatter windows with how loud she can yell, and knows how to fight if it comes down to it.

Biography & Lore

Gwendolyn Asulf was a miracle child. Born during her mother, Ava, in her 40’s and her father, Havard, in his 50’s, it was assumed that her mother would never have a child again. The Gods truly blessed them with Gwendolyn – she was often referred to as their little miracle, there second chance, their redemption even.

Of course, Ava had one other child – at least 20 or so years prior who was named Elani. Circumstances were hard, then. House Asulf was suffering greatly. A major famine had brought the House to their knees and followed an inevitable collapse. The child Elani brought enough coin for them to keep things afloat. The Asulf’s assumed the God’s had cursed them for such a sin as Ava never got pregnant again until Gwendolyn.

By the time Gwendolyn was a child, the House was back on a path of despair and destruction. It was only a matter of time before it finally fell apart. Her father became an alcoholic, using any coin he could get on alcohol. Her mother became depressed and isolated herself. When Gwen was 9, her parents sent her to boarding school in Elbion where she spent most of her youth being educated in all things educational. It was paid for a ‘debt’, a favor the owner had with Havard.

By the time she was 10, her family had agreed to marry her to the Bochanan’s son, Rorric, once he returned from his many battles and heroic deeds. In return, Asulf would fully become Bochanan – all lands, productions, and means, would be fully given to Bochanan. Her father drank himself to death after the deal was made and her mother committed suicide after he died of alcohol poisoning by the time Gwendolyn was 17.

At 18, she was married to Rorric and was almost immediately pregnant with her first child – Gunnr. But, low and behold, it was meant to be twins. She gave birth to a happy, healthy boy and a girl. Three years later, Gwendolyn had another child. This time another girl. She had a boy and two girls; a dream come true. In reality, after the birth of her second child, she knew her calling in life – to be a mother to her children and to be an amazing wife to her husband. It felt right.

The next several years were amazing for Gwen. She became a mother of 3 beautiful, amazing children. Despite her husband's protests, she refused to be a simple housewife. No, Gwendolyn spent her days in both Freyborg, Asulfedorn, and Bochanan. She taught the locals arts, crafts, language, and the power of education - and despite her husband's complaining, he eventually came to realize how vital it became for the towns within their control to develop a stronger, more diverse economy that wasn't fully reliant on agriculture.

Indeed, in many ways, the folk had more loyalty to Lady Bochanan than her late husband. Gwendolyn built herself as compassionate, but tough, kind, but assertive, but most importantly: a leader to her people.

While she had hired help to raise her children, she made sure to spend the rest of her free time with her beautiful children. They were the biggest joy of her life and they inspired her to be a better person.

In recent years, though, things had become tough. Her son would be missing for days at a time and refused to explain himself. Celty had become rebellious, as if she hated both her and her late father. Myrcella, Gwen's sweet girl, was the only who did not. But, she had found love in a servant despite other plans. Gwen had tried to find a plan.

But the worst of things happened: her rock, her husband, died. And while Gwen greived for months, she is finally pushing herself forward and onward. Soon after, her son Gunnr went missing - and while she hopes every day he returns, her hope is slowly vanishing.

She has to press forward, for Myrcella and Celty and for the towns under her jurisdiction.

Oh, how life decided to betray her good luck. Perhaps the future held a better future for Matriarch of House Bochanan.
