Aberssai Plains and the Southern Canyons

Large and powerful cat-like creatures with wings. Can carry up to two riders at a time. They bond as younglings with their riders for life.

Creatures bread for riding and serving as a flying calvary for the city of Marakoosh. Tamed and handled by the surrounding Gryph Tribe on the Aberssai Plains. They bond as younglings with their riders for life. If a gryph loses its rider it can quickly spiral into depression and grow wild and savage. New riders can be introduced but this takes a long time for trust and a bond to grow.

Gryphs have always been in service to the Gryph tribes of the Marakoosh nation on the Savannah. It's hard for anyone to remember a time before the creatures were tamed. Though rare, some wild ones still exist within the Southern Canyon. But most wild ones are found as younglings and brought in to bond with new potential riders.
