A wanderer with a mysterious relic strapped to his arm, and a serious blade slung over his back.

Appearance

Tall and broad shouldered, most are likely to first notice that he is missing his left eye, followed by his shock of white hair, cropped messily and short. He rarely smiles, though some say it is pleasant enough whenever it does show up, and his hard features seem eternally pinched by some looming sorrow, or perhaps its dread.

Finding moderate success in his work, Garrod's armor and arms are of good quality, though one piece of his ensemble is hard to measure. Bone white, with an eerie opalescent jewel transfixed at its center, Garrod's right gauntlet and pauldron look more like they are made from some type of bone. More so, those pieces of armor, jagged and sharp, almost look hungry, as if they are waiting to take a bite out of any who look for too long. And the jewel, that pale blue opal that looks to be made from a sickly star fading into its end, it glows with the faintest of lights, and it shines like an eye, almost as if it had its own intelligence.

Skills and Abilities

Swordsman: An urchin, whose fate would see him adopted by the famed slayer of things most foul, Artorias Sinns, Garrod spent much of his life learning to wield blades of all fashion. With his master dead, he has inherited his greatsword, and uses the cruel slab of sharpened steel to bring death to those and that which stand in his way.

Devourer: Garrod's gauntlet, named Belephus, is an enchanted item, though most would sooner call it cursed. Whether there is an actual entity named Belephus bound to the gauntlet, or if the voice Garrod hears inside of his mind is purely a side effect of the magic, is unknown. What is known is that Garrod is able to wield the magic inside of Belephus. One such spell he can conjure imbues his weapon/attack with a pestilent effect. If his attack hits its target while this effect is applied, the wounded being will be afflicted by the magic, steadily sapping them of strength and will for a brief period of time. Casting with Belephus requires Garrod to tap in to his own well of spirit, and prolonged use, will result in heavy fatigue, exhaustion, loss of consciousness, and probably death. When a foe is defeated, the eye of Belephus has been seen to glow. Garrod has noted in his diary that the light of the jewel seems, "...happy," after a deathblow has been struck.

-Presently-
Due to recent happenings, the gauntlet has now fused with his right arm. A near seamless encapsulation of his form, resembling the chitinous shell of a terrible insect, or crustacean. Still, it appears like silvery white bone, and the jewel is most oft hidden from view.

Spellsword: Attuned with minor elemental magics, Garrod can channel the elements of fire, lightning, and wind, using his weapons as a conduit. Like all magic use, the more complex or powerful the spell, the more it exhausts him.

Fisherman: Garrod likes to fish, and has been known to sustain himself with the practice while out adventuring.

Cook: He can cook.

Knower of Words: Garrod knows how to read and write in the dialects of most common races. It's just kind of one of his things.

Personality

Not exactly talkative, Garrod would much rather find a quiet spot somewhere to read a good book, or put the quill to parchment to try and put his latest adventure out of his mind. It's already crowded enough as it is in there, with Belphus going on and on about how hungry it is. Needless to say, he tends to prefer solitude. He does, however, enjoy cooking meals for others and helping out with menial tasks around campsites and inns alike. Just part of his Outer City upbringing, one could suppose.

Biography & Lore

A street rat, not good for much other than picking pockets and getting into scraps. That's all Garrod remembers being at the tender age of having memories. Scraping and struggling to get by in the streets of the Outer City. Till one day he picked the right pocket, and snatched the purse of one famed, Artorious Sinns, monster slayer extraordinaire. It just so happened that Artorious Sinns was piss drunk and passed out in an alleyway when Garrod happened by him.

The famed swordsman woke up, tracked down the thieving little rat and got his purse back. Why he decided to take the child, Garrod, under his wing then, who could really say? But he did. And he taught him the tricks of his trade, and how to sling a blade.

Looking back, with his one eye gone and a magic soul sucking gauntlet strapped to his arm, whispering haunting reminders that it needs to eat again, Garrod can't say he's exactly thankful to Artorious for plucking him off the streets back then. Especially not when he has to chase nightmares down in bog country, waist deep in leech infested waters and a nose full of moss rot. But, on that rare occasion that he finds himself along the banks of the Sayve, with a line cast out and Belephus is drowned out by the sound of the rushing river. When that happens, yeah, he smiles and gives the old Spellsword his thanks. After all, he would have probably died long ago if it wasn't for that drunken idiot.

Now, he wanders across Arethil, earning coin with sword and sorcery.
