Fallen Star Gauntlets
A set of gauntlets forged from meteoric iron and fine carbon from a long forgotten era. They are enchanted with versatile geomantic magics, primarily suited towards defending the bearer. Despite their advanced age, both the metal and enchantments have been kept in pristine condition.
Overview
Description
A pair of elegant, intimidating, black, metallic gauntlets with a set of violet gemstones inlaid within the back of each glove. The gemstones give off a faint, arcane glow, and channels etched in intrusion the metal glow with that same light.
At one time the gauntlets had a sheen more akin to gold or brass and the gemstones resembled emeralds, but in recent times a painstaking alchemical process was undergone to permanently alter their appearance.

Effect
While inactive the gauntlets are simply flexible and durable steel armor.
When activated by their bearer, the gauntlets project a field of glimmering crystals which orbit around the bearer, resembling a field of twinkling, violet stars. The gems are extremely durable and will automatically attempt to repel projectiles such as arrows, bolts, slingbullets, and knives that might cause the bearer harm.
While in their field form the gems cannot repel particularly powerful projectiles, but the protection is autonomous and omnidirectional. In addition and with focus, the bearer can cause the gems to take on other formations. These include:

- Panes: directional barriers that can block more potent projectiles.
- Meteorites: clusters of gems that can act as irritating offensive projectiles. Controlled manually via the bearer's will.
- Comets: a thick skin around the gauntlets which increases their durability and allows them to be used as punching daggers or crushing claws, but removes their ability to protect the bearer from projectiles entirely.
History
Two pairs were discovered by Medja of Ragash during her days of seeking the relics of Aramekh. While one remains within her private collection as a novelty, the other was modified in appearance and gifted to Vyx'aria during the celebration of the Valsharess' coronation.
Background
In a long bygone era, Aramekh, the First Great Sage of Geomancy, created hundreds of powerful geomantic artifacts, most of which were designed to augment the abilities of a geomancer who found one in their possession.
The Fallen Star Gauntlets are not of the Great Sage's make or design, but a tool created to venerate and emulate his power and abilities. Rather than being constructed for use by geomancers, magical craftsmen of the time made them for those without such abilities, as the efficacy of geomancy was well known and revered at the time.
While adept geomancers of the time saw little use for the gauntlets, forged from the highly converted iron of fallen meteorites, many a warrior found the armor to be of immense utility, and thus they were in high demand.
Millenia have since passed, and only two pairs remain in known existence, at least with their original enchantments intact.
