When tended with care, this braid rewards the owner and carrier with an aura that wards off minor to moderately powerful evil creatures (non-sapient/sentient).

Description

  • The Witch's Braid exudes an aura that will ward off minor to moderately powerful dark and evil creatures of the non-sapient/sentient variety.
  • The braid must be tended to on a daily basis by the owner with affection and care. Treat it like a beloved pet - keep it clean and untangled; comb and wash it regularly, rebraid it when the braid becomes frayed, and polish its ornament. Cherish the braid, and it will cherish you back with its protection.
  • If dropped or lost by a caring owner, the braid will call to its owner and instill a sense of panic and dread in them until it is found again.
  • If mistreated, ignored, or neglected the braid will instead place a curse upon the owner that makes every living thing they come into contact with abhor and hate them.
  • The braid can be willingly passed on to another.
  • If stolen or taken, the braid may or may not be able to be swayed to the new owner depending on the way the previous owner treated it. Steal at your own risk.
  • If cut or damaged, a caring owner can tend the braid back to its original form over a period of time ranging from several days to months depending on the extent of the damage.
  • As it is not an inherently good or evil creation, the braid has no inherent weaknesses to any one type of magic, though it can be easily destroyed by powerful magic directed at it so the owner should take precaution to protect it.

History

Created long ago by the Tundra Witch Matron Aghern to protect her daughter when she ventured forth into the realm, the Witch's Braid has been carried long and far across the landscapes for an untold number of years. Once passed down for several generations of Aghern's line, it was then gifted to a beloved friend who then passed it on to their child and so forth and so on. None know if a direct descendant of Aghern yet lives or what may happen should the braid find its way home to blood kin.
