Bryar of Errant
Biography & Lore
Having been orphaned at a young age within the city of Vel Anir, Bryar placed her sights on becoming a noble knight for one of the Seven Houses since a young age. Dreaming of slaying monsters and protecting the innocent, once Bryar entered into the military at the age of 16 she found that her duties were far from what she expected. She had been ordered to rough up and shake down settlements for taxes, threaten criminals and rebels, and be used for combat in pitiful skirmishes against common pests and beasts. This was not the dream of heroics she had held as a child, and after 4 years of service she paid to keep her equipment and leave her kin in arms. The years of brutish and cruel service had worn at her spirit, and upon the road she found herself struggling to survive on her meager savings. Eventually she was a dirty, starved, delirious transient, and was pounced upon by monsters. Having given up on her life, and any sense of purpose, she threw her full self into the melee and miraculously survived the conflict. She had no lice left to live, but she managed to do something she had been dreaming of doing since she was a small orphan girl. From now on her whole existence can continue to carry on, even if it is simply to slay monsters.
Drift Knights
Drift Knights are a symptom of the entrenched xenophobia and militaristic lifestyle of Vel Anir. Warriors in the military young and old who lack nationalism but still hold the ideals of a protected human society to the violent extremes common in Vel Anir find themselves acting as roaming free agents against anything nonhuman and magical that threatens the land, often unnerving and anarchistic in their methods. They view their lives as completely expandable for the greater good, seeing themselves as paladins of humanity as they travel giving their aide for free (or sometimes forcing their aide onto others). Rarely do higher ranking military become Drift Knights due to the suicidal and neurotic nature of their methods, typically low ranking members with no wealth or strong ties to society find themselves in this extreme knighthood. Because of this most Drift Knights die early on in their career, but the general notion is if a Drift Knight can kill at least one monster their life was not in vain.
Drift Knights who manage to survive multiple ordeals end up as traveling vagrants traveling the land to destroy evil, though their survival is continually at risk due to the knighthood not being unified, funded, or well respected due to their chaotic and disjointed way of life. Whether a Drift Knight found on the trail is a vigilante farmer or a pure-blooded warrior, both will fight to the bitter end and are best not trifled with due to the uneasiness of nerves they cause even when killed.

Skills and Abilities
Drift Knights are not trained outside of their original occupations, meaning their skills can vary greatly. The most skilled are the ones who have fought the most battles.
Bryar held only a few ranks above the lowest members in the Vel Anir, making her skills and abilities measure with the majority of the actively fielded military (as compared to the emergency reserves). She is proficient in spear and shield combat, especially in group formations, and has moderate skill in blunt and bladed weaponry. Armor and combat are intimate skills for Bryar, as well as basic equestrian care and first aide. Having only ever worked in home services such as laundry and cooking before joining the military, Bryar has no other occupational skills and abilities beyond the norm of the common human citizen.

Personality
Having abandoned the surname she received with her military rank, she goes by Bryar of Errant. This title is common for family-less wanderers with little in way of goal for the paths they choose.
Fierce and steadfast, Bryar is difficult to sway through her heart. Her casual demeanor gives an air of apathy and loopiness, but magic and monsters draw forth her vigor and bring focus to her eyes.
She follows no Houses or banners, but rather her own creed that all Drift Knights share: Humanity first. Her zealous nature makes humans uncomfortable, and nonhumans grip their weapons in anticipation. Luckily Bryar is patient and not completely insane, allowing her to align her self with nonhuman interests as long as it benefits humanity.
Her only real interests are in researching monsters, though she does love cooking as a hobby (but rarely has the opportunity to do so). Being constantly paranoid of monsters has caused her to develope insomnia and a twitch, which both do not help minimize her loopy nature outside of combat. One would find conversation with this Drift Knight unnerving, eccentric, and somewhat dim.
