Appearance

Standing at a terrifyingly imposing 5’6”, Avia towers over practically no one of the human race. If it weren’t for her her oddly colored grey white hair and her pale white skin, she wouldn’t stand out at all from the average human appearance wise. While she is mostly petite in build, her arms and legs sport a definition in the muscles that belies her years of using a Warhammer as a normal blacksmithing hammer.

As the vessel for her soul it is important to note that her Warhammer is by all intents and purposes a scaled up blacksmithing hammer that almost is as tall as she is. If she isn’t using it for whatever reason she has it stored on her back in a modified back holster that pivots and allows for easy storage of her Warhammer.

As she is mostly normal in appearance, she has a small complex about how she looks and will, at any opportunity, look for a way to spice up her looks. As a result, she constantly seems to have different accessories that she wears ranging from small earrings and rings, to larger pieces of work that she had made herself in an attempt to make something to fit with an outfit.

When working she wears a blacksmithing apron covering a soot stained top. The top itself seems like it needs to be replaced as it has burn holes and pot marks that pepper the outside exposing varying amounts of skin. Her longer-than-shoulder length hair is purposely tied up as to not allow for it to impede with her work. While working, the top of a scar and stretch mark that she has trailing from the right shoulder to the left hip can be seen if looked at at the correct angle.

Skills and Abilities

Disembodied soul- Avia’s soul is residing in an outside source to her body. Specifically, Her soul inhabits a flat headed War hammer that she carries around with her. This is due to the fact that she instinctively understands that the farther her soul is away from her, the less likely her body will be able to function. If it gets far away enough, her body would die completely as the simple things that control her heartbeat and her other homeostatic functions.

Soul Hammer- Due to the fact that her soul inhabits a hammer, it feels like an extension of her body. Her body can wield it much like a limb without any hassle even though the hammer itself is far heavier than what is expected. The hammer itself seems to clean and maintain itself as well as fix some of the damage that it takes. That being said if the hammer breaks completely she very quickly and painfully dies without the hammer being fixed. Even if the hammer is fixed quickly she loses memory proportional to the amount of time the hammer was broken.

Soul enchantment- At the cost of her soul proportional to the enchantment, she can enchant magical items with her hammer that can be used. For example, she can enchant a frying pan with the ability to heat itself up in order to cook food without too much of a problem, but something that would require a complex magical effect would come at the cost of a huge investment of her soul. The effect of the loss of parts of her soul manifests as a loss of memory. Something small would cost her a couple minutes of memory and a small bit of her soul, but if she were to create some sort of magical weapon, depending on how complex or powerful the enchantment she could lose her memory of the last week.

Pain muting- due to the fact that her soul is detached from her body pain is registered in lesser quantities and slowly transmitted to her brain.

Permanent sentience- While her body can most definitely die, if her soul is intact inside the hammer than she technically is capable of thought and feelings. Essentially her soul lives on inside of the item.

Basic Magical Repair- For basic items that seem to be broken Avia is able to fix the items simply by smashing it with her hammer.

Personality

On principle Avia believes that nothing she experiences should effect her interactions with other people. As a result, she strives to make sure that her true emotions are covered by a potential façade of happiness and positivity interspersed with a rough and tumble attitude. She is extremely touchy and will insist that when interacting with people that they have physical contact in the form of a hug or a handshake. While no one realizes, she does this for her mental health as she has a complex that makes her unsure that she even exists as a normal person. While touching other people and verifying that she can actually feel that they are there. She is also the type that would vouch for a person regardless of their past if she truly believed that they had a good reason to be somewhere. As a result, while she is friendly to nearly everyone she is slow to trust and even slower to truly understand.

While she doesn’t show it, she fears her rapid loss of memory, not only from her past but also the rate at which she seems to not remember the small things in a day to day

Biography & Lore

Avia was born to a blacksmith father and a mysterious magical mother in an unnamed village that had just been raised for a small group of people. While she has a vague memory of her time as a child in the village, she could remember picking up a blacksmith’s hammer and being taught the tricks of the blacksmithing trade while her mother would try to teach her the ability to manipulate mana… apparently. Much of her childhood seemed to be completely erased from her memory.

The earlies thing she could remember was when her head was covered in a tarp bad and she was dragged by her throat to a cart where she was hogtied and locked down under chain and key. At first she tried to scream bloody murder, but after a few hours of her trying and no one came to look she gave up. She could remember how the cart would shake and rock causing her to feel sick, dizzy, and eventually forcing her to puke over herself as she lay there tied uncomfortably on the back of the cart.

Oddly enough, her memory of the time on the cart was some of her most clear memories. She could remember them so clearly that she could recall the changing of the sounds of birds from one region to another. While she didn’t know how long she was stuck on that cart she was very surprised when eventually she was dragged off the back of the cart and her back hit the snow-covered ground underneath the cart. She gasped as the snow came into contact with her skin, she could feel her nerves flare in protest as her back started to become scratched from the friction between her skin and the wet snow. After a little bit in the snow she noted after a while that she felt a difference on her back as she started to feel stone slide past her and an echo permeate past her ears.

She was brought up on top of what seemed to be a table and strapped down. This was the first time she would hear the voice of her captor. While the details seem to be hazy, she could remember that it was a woman that seemed to say “we are finally here Avia, this will be a perfect time to push the boundaries of my research. It’ll hurt you, but it will be definitely worth it trust me!” She then heard what seemed to be a couple pops and clinking noises before a long metallic sound akin to a sword being unsheathed.

A white flash of pain…. Then nothing. While she wouldn’t remember, she felt her soul get sucked from her body and put into something else. Something cold and unfeeling. Something that shouldn’t have housed a human soul, but nonetheless did.

When she regained consciousness, she could sense her soul as if it were a separate entity from her body and instead of her controlling her movement, it felt as if it was an out of body experience that controlled her movements according her own will. While it would be definitely hard to explain, she definitely would go and try and fail multiple times.

She opened her eyes then and unpleasantly realized that she could see more than the brown interior to the convas bag that her head was in for the longest time as the sun seemed to burn into her retinas. After some time of adjustment, she looked down at herself and saw herself in clean garbs with a small letter tucked into her cleavage. She took it out and looked at it watching as a note and a map fall out.

“Use the skills you know and look around for an answer to your situation. Only you can help yourself. I suggest that you go to Fal’Addas its rumored they have records of almost everything.”
Over the time she took to travel her body seemed to remember her lessons from youth, but she didn’t have any specific memory so after a few botched jobs she eventually was able to become passable and then more than passable before she made it to Fal’Addas.

She now tries to look for information about her condition in Fal’addas while blacksmithing for any who would need it. Luckily her hammer seemed to not even need a forge as it could enchant items to heat up themselves in order to become malleable enough to fix. When she comes across information that could be relevant, she leaves Fal’Addas in hopes to find an answer to her situation.
