Goblin
Overview
Goblins are a race of small, leathery-skinned and pointy-eared creatures who mostly dwell in the woods or in caves. Generally mischievous in nature, they like to cause trouble. Many find it difficult to get along with each other, so finding Goblins who are friendly towards any other species is almost unheard of.
Language
Gobbledygook: A series of odd babbles and grunts that seem to make no sense at all. Often very angry or overenthusiastic sounding, it is easy to mistake them for having a heated argument with one another. This is further implied by their exaggerated hand gestures and movements, which might be seen as threatening to anyone else.
Common Tongue: Though not their native language, many Goblins have kept with the times and learned to speak the Common Tongue.
Appearance
Goblins are awfully small. On average, they are approximately two foot in height, though some are smaller and some are larger. The warrior Goblins are the tallest, reaching to just over three foot at the most. Many are bald, though some manage to grow hair on their heads. Their skin colour varies from different shades of green, to browns and greys, sometimes even developing a mottled pattern consisting of mixed colours. What they all have in common, however, is their razor sharp teeth, their sharp nails, their beady little eyes and their large pointy ears. It can be quite hard to distinguish males from females, unless one was to manage to see their genitals. However, those who dwell closer to common civilization will wear clothes similar to what humans, elves and halflings would wear, thus making it easier to identify their gender based on the types of clothes they wear. However, the more stubborn and old-fashioned "traditionalist" Goblins will outright refuse to cover themselves, leaving absolutely everything on show.
Habitat
Most Goblins live deep in the woods, or in caves far from civilized society. Their natural habitat can often be guessed, judging by the colour of their skin. Green Goblins are forest dwellers, while Grey Goblins are cave dwellers. Brown Goblins, however, could be either. It is theorised that their skin colour is a product of their natural habitat, providing camouflage so they can easier hide from predators.
Traits
Goblins have the uncanny ability of mimicking a person's voice. They can also mimic numerous animal sounds. However, they need to have heard the person or creature they wish to mimic beforehand.
Goblins are almost chameleon-like in their ability to blend in with their natural habitat as well. Green Goblins can blend in perfectly with dense grass, bushes and tree leaves. Grey Goblins can blend in with stone, and Brown Goblins can blend in with mud and tree bark.

History
Background
Goblins have been around for as long as humans, possibly even before. They are an ancient race that live all across the globe. Largely, they have kept themselves out of wars and other significant events in wider society, although there have been some key events in their history.
One such event was The Goblin Wars. Whilst unnoticed by wider society, for the most part, The Goblin Wars raged for several years. Constant bickering between tribes escalated to all out battle, sneaky power grabs and the taking over of various territories.
Another significant event was known as The Culling. When humans started building their great cities, these was mass deforestation resulting in the destruction of many Goblins' homes. Some Goblins attempted to fight back but were no match for the advancement of human society. Many Goblins were slaughtered, and even more were captured as slaves to work in their quarries. A small band of Goblins managed to rescue their compatriots, however, forming a network of tunnels and railways leading from the quarries so that they could make good their escape and build themselves new homes far away from humans.
Over the generations, the different species of the world began to have more tolerance and acceptance towards one another. Many of the Goblins saw this as an opportunity for them to mingle with other species too. While there was still a lot of nastiness, racism and so on in a lot of cases, many Goblins found themselves befriending all manner of folk from humans, elves, orcs, etc.
Lore
Not much is known about Goblins by wider society. However, it is well known that Grey Goblins have an encyclopedic knowledge of rocks and gems, being able to identify them at a mere glance. Green Goblins excel in the art of leathercraft, and Brown Goblins make for rather adept mages and witch doctors. All Goblins are seen as mischievous, however, and untrustworthy.
