Anverth Kettlewhistle
Appearance
Anverth is a wisp of a man, coming up short and thin among other humans. He is slightly built, having a musculature that just barely suits someone of his stature. A loose and long mane of hair rests atop his head, often falling about in rampant waves and half-curls. Wide, hazel eyes compliment the cherubic features of his face, coming together to form a look that Anverth finds loathsomely cute.
He is often found wearing clothing only a little flashier than that of a commoner, burdened by the weight of his travelling pack. This isn’t to say he doesn’t rejoice in fancier dress; It’s simply easier to keep a simple set of clothes clean whilst moving from place to place, and carrying an entire wardrobe would slow him quite substantially.
Skills and Abilities
Quick Learner - Ever retentive, Anverth has proven to be quite the quick study, as he is able to pick up new skills with little instruction. He has mostly put this talent to use learning multiple languages, as well as in honing his ability to play a variety of instruments.
Executant at Heart - With a variety of arts under his command, Anverth makes his living through entertaining others. His two most prized instruments are a well-worn violin and the professional baritone of his voice. Both are frequently to keep taverns’ clientele enraptured in song.
Naiveté - Being young has its pros, but the cons are not to be forgotten. Inexperienced as he is, Anverth is rather lacking in the area of wisdom and sophistication. The young quarterling has proven a little too trusting time and time again, and it will undoubtedly take many more burns before he keeps from sticking his hand in the fire.
Arcane Illiteracy - Anverth hardly knows an ounce of magic, be it druidic, divine, arcane, or otherwise. This isn’t to say he’s unwilling to learn-- Quite the contrary, really. He simply never found it particularly important, and as such chose to avoid studying it almost entirely.
Personality
Innocent, kind, and all too trustful, Anverth is as friendly as can be. He’s always willing to open up to those around him, and his articulate nature often has them willing to open up in return. Called idealistic in the past, he knows his aspirations and seeks to fulfill them with nearly every action, hoping beyond all hope to one day lead the life of romantic adventure he’d always envisioned for himself.
Biography & Lore
Anverth Kettlewhistle was born in the small town of High-Hill to the north-east of the Falwood from the unlikely pairing of a human monk taking his pilgrimage to Fal’Addas and one of the town’s halfling natives. The young Kettlewhistle grew up as somewhat of an outcast among his peers, substantially taller and bulkier than his fellow children and growing past the height of his teachers by his third year of schooling.
In his youth, Anverth was almost always hiding away in High-Hill’s insubstantial library when he wasn’t otherwise occupied. There he read countless books, enraptured by the stories they told. He resolved to one day leave his little hometown to find and tell of his own tales, and his first stop would be the rather foreboding fortress-city of Vel Anir to the west.
His life continued as these things always tend to, ostracized by his peers and longing for escape-- Right until the opportunity Anverth so desperately sought presented itself on an unremarkable summer evening. A passing caravan stopped near High-Hill enroute from the elven citadel of Fal’Addas, and the young quarterling stayed at their camps for hours, speaking to them of the world beyond the Falwood.
From that night, Anverth’s intentions were set. He would gather up his fiddle and what few other possessions he had, joining the caravan as they left for Vel Anir the following morning.
