Appearance

In all aspects, Aegand's physique has an average definition, or somewhat ideal for a young adult of his youthful stature. Although branded by a race that's not of his own, he's still relatively human only with an acquired distinction that would otherwise mislabel him for something else -- a mixed breed for that matter.

His eyes are shaded in hazel while his short, unruly hair is of dark brown. Often he dons the signature -- but less liturgical -- vestments of the monastery which is a light, woolen robe on top of a worn tunic. He always carries his staff even out of the occasion, appearing to be fastened on a makeshift sheath attached to a leather strap slung partially around his right shoulder.

One feature that outlines his identity, and mostly makes himself noticeable, is his birthmark which looks like a pair of thin, linear scars bridged together by his right eye. Many speculated it to be nothing more than a mere scar that never healed, but whatever truths it held were all buried in secrecy by those who raised him.

Skills and Abilities

Hand-to-hand combat

The monastery holds a myriad of disciplines and while the art of combat isn't something they implement as mandatory, many have sought the adeptness of the mind and body as the proficiency of both highly emphasizes self-control, balance, and peace -- all of which are important aspects to the teachings of The Faith. It's something that's quite difficult to master, however. Even veterans themselves have acknowledged that none can truly master the discipline.

Aegand, being the perpetually restless soul that he is, enrolled himself and was taught the fundamentals of the discipline. Years of training had granted him efficiency both in skill and principle. Different techniques were learned and allowed him to be quite relentless but graceful in combat. Yet despite his progress and acquired abilities, his teachers still regarded him as a neophyte.

Magic

There's a good reason why the monastery carried many secrets about Aegand and his birthmark. Truth be told, they could've left the child and save themselves from the perils of his past, but their moral values and the risk of Aegand ending up in the wrong hands are what made them foster the child in their care. The birthmark holds a concerning history of clairvoyant magic and how it enslaved thousands due to its misuse and pursuit for conquest. The monastery simply decided that it's too dangerous to unlock the boy's potential, but they knew themselves how flawed the decision was as the boy will eventually uncover the seeds of his origins in one way or another.

While the monastery gave its best efforts to seal away Aegand's source of magic, their faint essences have subtly found their way to their host. Argand, however, is completely oblivious about his magical origins but there are times when he can foresee events, places and people in ways he couldn't comprehensively describe. Thankfully, those occurrences are few and far in-between.

Personality

Aegand exhumes an adventurous spirit from a life otherwise defined by discipline and unrelenting lectures. Often, the don'ts outnumber the do's but his thirst to discover the world still remains despite the circumstances faced. Since his upbringing, having an unswerving tenacity and an open mind has become the key to his integration, especially from a culture ruled by elitism and hypocritical views towards anyone who is not of their own race.

Through the years he has been unreasonably criticized, shunned and was treated like a stray being, but all of which did not plant a seed of hatred in his heart. Kindness and humility grew to be the core of Aegand's disposition and even when the elven monks didn't require him of such things, the boy stayed true to the image he naturally kept.

While his individuality is virtually designated towards an optimistic aspect, his obedience to the monastery and its teachings can sometimes contradict his efforts of being accepted by the masses. Monks are taught to be reliant in terms of upholding the monastery's notions and moral standing. Anyone, even those who have been fostered in their care, must show their devotion to The Faith. In this regard, they must discard anything that can potentially interfere them from their undertakings.

Aegand, at times, can show apathy, arrogance, and even contempt, all in adherence to The Faith. He does it mainly to sustain a healthy relationship between him and the place where he thinks he is truly accepted. However, where he fulfills his duties, balance is also served. Obedience isn't something that's always practiced, at least in his sporadic schemes. His curiosity of a world undiscovered drives him to slightly deviate from a traditionalist fate.
